The meaning behind Lent is so important for anyone that is a Christian: a time for sacrifice - a time for fasting - a time for prayer - a time to reflect on the Cross and Resurrection....
Brad and I talked about what we wanted to give up for Lent and decided to give up sugar. Candy. Desserts. Sweets of all kinds.
And, we both love sugar. So. Very. Much. I mean really - my "Food" picture folder is full of pictures of baked goods - cakes, cookies, candy. I LOVE to bake!!
It's gonna be a long 40 days without sugar of any kind, but together we can do it and it will be so worth it!! This sugar fast will be a way to prepare our hearts and minds to focus on Christ and the meaning of Easter for us as followers of Jesus.
Are you participating in Lent?? What are you giving up?? I would love to hear from you!
Wow! Sugar is in EVERYTHING, ya'll!! That is going to be very hard! But I know ya'll can do it!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!
Love ya'll
I gave up sweets too! I have the world's biggest sweet tooth. I decided that it was definitely going to be sacrifice for me and that is why I decided to give up the sweets! I will be thinking about you during lent. Glad I am not alone on this sugar free journey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement!! We have done great thus far (only 3 days in). I hope that we can continue to be as committed! Allyson - you are definitely not alone :) We'll definitely have to encourage one another during our "no sugar" days....WE CAN DO IT!!
ReplyDeleteHey Girl! I gave up all cokes for lent. I hope I make it....I am a Mello Yello junkie! I will be praying for you during this lent season!
