- This is the 1st month in Sadie's life that we have not had any doctor visits - praise the Lord!! Soo, she hasn't been weighed and measured this month. I'm guessing she's right over 17 lbs.
- She is in size 3 diapers.
- She still wears 6 month sleepers, but is mostly in 6-9 months in other outfits.
- She eats 4-5 times a day. I've really worked hard to have her eat 5 times a day to cut down on waking up at night (which has been somewhat successful). She takes 4 ounces or nurses at 4 of her feedings, and then takes a 6 ounce bottle at bedtime. We've slowly worked this month on adding a 3rd meal, and she now eats solids at 3 of her feedings. She still nurses at night.
- She has been such a good eater! This month, we have introduced her to apricots, cantaloupe, pumpkin, spinach, parsnips, cucumber, quinoa, noodles, grits, scrambled eggs, ham, turkey, and cottage cheese. She has eaten every thing so well! The only food so far she doesn't seem to like very well is white potatoes (of all things!).
- Sadie is completely transitioned to her room in her crib! We still have some off nights where she gets up a couple of times a night, but she is doing sooooo much better than the past few months. I owe this to a whole lot of prayer, Brad helping me at bedtime, and helping Sadie to attach to a lovey. Hoping we are on the homestretch to having a good sleeper again!
- New things she has started doing this month - She has really upped the jabbering - she "talks" all the time! AND, she has said 2 words - Da Da and Mea Mea (it's Mama, but it has more of a short /e/ sound than /a/). Sooooo sweet! Also, Sadie has another tooth - she now has 2 on the bottom right in front! She has learned how to go from laying down to sitting up - she has been trying to figure this one out for a while, and I'm so excited she can now! She has also learned how to pull up all the way to standing in her crib and in the bathtub (YIKES!!) She is "partly" crawling - she can go backward like a pro, and can go forward a few steps and then falls to her belly. But, she basically is able to scoot around to where ever she wants to go. She's completely holding her bottle on her own now, too. Sadie has also learned how to play peek-a-boo on her own - she'll pull a blanket over her eyes, and then pull it down and grin :) Such a smart girl!
However, it's so bittersweet - I love seeing her do and experience new things because of the joy that she shows in everything. Such simple things put a smile on her little face, and she'll start kicking her feet and moving her fingers like she can't get to you fast enough. I look forward to all the many stages that are to come, and to experience life with this little angel!
This month we celebrated Sadie's nursery buddy, Charlotte's, 1st birthday! This was her first "friend" party to attend. And, of course we also had a lot of Easter gatherings and celebration. What a special month of "firsts" it has been for our girl!
This sweet little face - ahhh, I just can't get enough of her! So so so overwhelmed to be her Mama!!!
Best 9 months of my life!!
Happy 9 months, sweet Sadie Hope!
Hayley I found your blog a couple of months ago and I so enjoy keeping up with you and this precious baby. You used the word "bittersweet" in this post and I just wanted to tell you that I never truly understood the meaning of that word until I had children...it truly captures your feelings as a Mom!
