Sadie is 6 Months Old!

We have made it to 1/2 year already!!  Our sweet girl is 6 months old!!

What is Sadie up to these days?
  • She weighs 15 lb 2 oz (25%), and is 25 inches (16%) long.
  • She is in size 2 diapers.
  • She mostly wears 6 month clothes, and a few 6-9 month outfits.
  • We've hit 6 months which means what her eye color is, is what it will stay...however, they are still up for debate!  They're definitely not blue...don't really look brown...not looking hazel either.  We're thinking they'll possibly be in the green family.
  • She is still eating 4.5 ounces from a bottle or nurses 15-20 minutes, every 3-4 hours.  She has stayed at the same amount for several months, but her doctors are pleased with her continued weight gain, and she is satisfied with this amount so we're not too terribly worried about needing to increase.  She has started really noticing us eating/drinking and reaching for our cups, spoons/forks so we know she's definitely ready for more than just her bottle or nursing!!
  • She continues to sleep well, and will be moving to her room this next month.  She has slept in her bassinet by our bed up to this point.
  • She is sitting up independently, rolling from her back to belly/belly to back, holding objects, starting to manipulate objects/toys, recognizes her name when spoken, babbles and laughs a lot, and puts EVERYTHING in her mouth!
  • Some of her favorite things - Ellie, her cousins!, bath time, reading books, playing on her activity mat, being sang to/talked to, standing up in your lap, her feet :), and watching Mickey Mouse.
It seems like this month she has changed so much - doing so many new things and she's so curious about everything around her!  This was the first month that doing her monthly photo session was a little bit of a challenge!  She really wanted the "6 month" sign...
And, she has started making this cheesy facial expression, which is so funny!  It starts out like this, then she starts spitting, and laughs! HA!!
She has found her feet, and LOVES to play with them and put them in her mouth!!

She also loves to play in the floor with mommy...
...or, in her Exercauser.

Bath time is even more fun now that she can sit up.  She loves to kick and splash with her hands, and try to "catch" her bath toys.
This month we have done some celebrating too!  Sadie became a BIG COUSIN!  John Barry Bailey was born on Sunday, January 19th.  Congrats Emily and James Paul!  Sadie is super excited to have another little buddy to play with!!

We also celebrated our sweet friend Lynn's 50th birthday!!  Lynn was one of our special friends that prayed so hard for Sadie to come during our years of waiting, and prayed for us and with us during Sadie's stay at Children's.  We love her so very much!!
I wish that we could say we celebrated a National Championship win for Auburn...but...well, I think we all know how that ended.  This is how Sadie was pretty much the entire game.
Our sweet girl also had to have her 4th surgery this month.  We went for a check up to see how well her surgery from November had held, and Dr. Russell felt she needed to have another esophageal dilatation.  Surgery went great, and Dr. Russell was very pleased with the results.  Hopeful that this will be the last for a while!!  Sadie was a Rock Star as usual, and bounced back so quickly!!  Sweet baby in her little hospital gown :)

It's been another busy, fun month that has passed at lightning speed!

Happy 6 months, Sadie Hope!!

Sadie Is 5 Months Old!

Sadie Hope turned 5 months old on Christmas Day!!  Unfortunately, she (AND her mommy and daddy) had the FLU on Christmas!!!  So, I waited until she felt better to do her 5 month picture.

What is Sadie up to these days?
  • We only got her weight at the doctor this month - she weighs 14 lb 5 oz.
  • She is in size 1 diapers.
  • She is now in all 6 month clothes.
  • Her eye's are looking more green than brown or blue these days.
  • She is eating 4.5 ounces from a bottle or nurses 15-20 minutes, every 3-4 hours.
  • Her sleeping routine continues to be great - she occasionally wakes up when Brad gets up (around 5:00) and nurses, but falls asleep during.  Then, she sleeps til 8:30-9:30, catnaps throughout the day, takes a long nap in the afternoon (2-4 hours), and goes down for the night around 11:00.  She hasn't woke up during the middle of the night for several months.  I have no idea how we got so lucky for this, but she is a GREAT sleeper!
  • She is getting better at sitting up, but still has to have support.  She has rolled from her back to her side/belly several times, and has rolled back a few times - but, she doesn't seem very interested in being on her belly voluntarily, so she doesn't roll a ton.  We do tummy time everyday, though, and she is tolerating it for longer periods of time, but still not a fan!  She has also started purposefully reaching and holding on to objects, and has learned how to take her pacifier out of her mouth and put it back in.
  • She is a very smiley, happy baby...she smiles a lot with her eyes which is just so sweet :).  She loves to be talked to, and LOVES Ellie - she will laugh from her belly when Ellie gets close to her!

This past month has been busy with holidays and celebrations...

Sadie enjoyed her first Thanksgiving!

She got to celebrate not 1 but 2 major Auburn victories - the unbelievable win over Alabama, and then winning the SEC championship!  Sadie says, "WAR EAGLE!"
Sadie started off the Christmas season by playing baby Jesus in Mary's Monologue we did at church for our children.  When the children came in, several of them gasped, "it's a real baby!"  She did such a good job in her first performance!
We also rang in the season at church with Christmas on Ivory - Christmas music played on 3 grand pianos with 6 pianists...it was incredible!
And, even though our family gatherings all had to be rescheduled because of the flu bug that our house was infested with, we had a sweet Christmas morning at home with our little family of 3...and, Ellie too!
Each month that passes is so very bittersweet - it's hard to believe that another 4 weeks has came and gone, but with Sadie changing and her little personality developing, it's so fun to see what's ahead.  I'm trying to soak in every single minute!

Happy 5 months, sweet girl!!!
