Sadie is 9 Months Old!

My baby is only 3 months away from being a 1 year old!!??!!  WOWZERS!

What is Sadie up to these days?
  • This is the 1st month in Sadie's life that we have not had any doctor visits - praise the Lord!!  Soo, she hasn't been weighed and measured this month.  I'm guessing she's right over 17 lbs.
  • She is in size 3 diapers.
  • She still wears 6 month sleepers, but is mostly in 6-9 months in other outfits.
  • She eats 4-5 times a day.  I've really worked hard to have her eat 5 times a day to cut down on waking up at night (which has been somewhat successful).  She takes 4 ounces or nurses at 4 of her feedings, and then takes a 6 ounce bottle at bedtime.  We've slowly worked this month on adding a 3rd meal, and she now eats solids at 3 of her feedings.  She still nurses at night.
  • She has been such a good eater!  This month, we have introduced her to apricots, cantaloupe, pumpkin, spinach, parsnips, cucumber, quinoa, noodles, grits, scrambled eggs, ham, turkey, and cottage cheese.  She has eaten every thing so well! The only food so far she doesn't seem to like very well is white potatoes (of all things!).
  • Sadie is completely transitioned to her room in her crib!  We still have some off nights where she gets up a couple of times a night, but she is doing sooooo much better than the past few months.  I owe this to a whole lot of prayer, Brad helping me at bedtime, and helping Sadie to attach to a lovey.  Hoping we are on the homestretch to having a good sleeper again!
  • New things she has started doing this month - She has really upped the jabbering - she "talks" all the time!  AND, she has said 2 words - Da Da and Mea Mea (it's Mama, but it has more of a short /e/ sound than /a/).  Sooooo sweet!  Also, Sadie has another tooth - she now has 2 on the bottom right in front!  She has learned how to go from laying down to sitting up - she has been trying to figure this one out for a while, and I'm so excited she can now!  She has also learned how to pull up all the way to standing in her crib and in the bathtub (YIKES!!)  She is "partly" crawling - she can go backward like a pro, and can go forward a few steps and then falls to her belly.  But, she basically is able to scoot around to where ever she wants to go.  She's completely holding her bottle on her own now, too.  Sadie has also learned how to play peek-a-boo on her own - she'll pull a blanket over her eyes, and then pull it down and grin :)  Such a smart girl!
Sadie has changed so much this month - doing lots of news things!!  This Mama feels like it's all happening just a wee bit too fast!!
However, it's so bittersweet - I love seeing her do and experience new things because of the joy that she shows in everything.  Such simple things put a smile on her little face, and she'll start kicking her feet and moving her fingers like she can't get to you fast enough.  I look forward to all the many stages that are to come, and to experience life with this little angel!
This month we celebrated Sadie's nursery buddy, Charlotte's, 1st birthday!  This was her first "friend" party to attend.  And, of course we also had a lot of Easter gatherings and celebration.  What a special month of "firsts" it has been for our girl!
This sweet little face - ahhh, I just can't get enough of her!  So so so overwhelmed to be her Mama!!!

Best 9 months of my life!!

Happy 9 months, sweet Sadie Hope!

Sadie's 1st Easter!

Before Sadie, there were certain things I would always long to do as a mother - birthday parties, pumpkin patch trips, going to the zoo, and Easter...just to name a few.  I've looked so forward to spending this 1st Easter with Sadie, and seeing her experience the joy that this special holiday brings!!

We started our Easter festivities on Saturday at Brad's parents with dinner and an egg hunt.  Sadie LOVED the eggs - she would just hold them in her little hand and shake them.

The 3 girls...Sadie loves her cousins so much!!
Easter morning at church!  How thankful I am for the cross...for Jesus...and, for His love for me!  So undeserving of the grace He so freely gives!!  How I pray that Sadie will understand from an early age the love Christ has for her, and the power He has already shown in her life!
Y'all.  I know she's mine, but Sadie in that blue dress and bonnet.  Oh, my - I could eat her up!!
Sadie with her other 3 cousins...
After church and lunch, we came home to give Sadie her Easter goodies!
She got a Sophie and Lambie teether, sippy cup, a book, swimsuits, and sunglasses.  She really got in to pulling everything out and looking at it!
Then, we headed to Mama J and Papa's for our Bailey family gathering.  We always take Easter pictures in front of my mom's Cherry Blossom tree - it's just beautiful when it's blooming!

And, we hunted eggs again :)  Sadie was happy with just one or two to hold and shake in the air...the other kids gladly hunted in her place!

The crew for the day...and, we were missing 7 others!!  YES, 15 cousins under the age of 9...so much fun is ahead for little Sadie!
What a wonderful 1st Easter as a family of 3 we have had!!  Thank you, Father, for all you have done for us!!  Overwhelmed by His sacrifice for me, and for all that believe.  He is risen, He is risen indeed!!
