Sadie is 7 Months Old!

How did I become a Mama to a 7 month old?

What is Sadie up to these days?
  • She weighs 15 lb 15 oz (35%), and is 25.5 inches (25%) long.
  • She is in size 2 diapers.
  • She still wears some 6 month clothes, but is mostly in 6-9 month outfits.
  • She continues to eat 4.5-5 ounces from a bottle or nurses 15-20 minutes.  AND, she has gotten to start solids this month!  She LOVES getting to eat real food!  She eats solids twice a day - in the mornings, she has 1 ounce of a fruit with 1 tablespoon of rice cereal and a 3 ounce bottle; in the evenings, she has 1 ounce of a vegetable with the same amount of cereal and a bottle.
  • We have been letting her play with a sippy cup just to get a feel for it, and just yesterday she figured out how to drink from it!
  • Sleeping has been really off for Sadie this month - she's had a hard time adjusting since her last surgery, and she's been getting up a once or twice a night (she hasn't done this since she was a month old!).  Hoping this is just a stage, and we'll be back to normal soon!!
  • New things she has started doing this month - she can turn the page in her board books when we read, she can reach and knock the toys off the ledge in the bathtub, she gives big open mouth kisses on your cheek when you ask for a kiss (so so sweet!), she has found her ears and plays with them a lot, and she has started shaking her head "no".
  • Some of her new favorite things - still loves bath time and playing in the water, is playing more purposefully with her toys, and loves for you to sing - Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, My God Is So Big, The Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and 5 Little Monkeys are her most favorites.
The past month has been fairly low key!  We've been at home a LOT due to lots of snowy weather, and Sadie and Mommy have enjoyed it!!
One of the biggest changes this month has been Sadie has started eating solids.  Her first food was applesauce.  Besides rice cereal, she has had apples, pears, bananas, prunes, sweet potatoes, green beans, squash, and carrots.  She has LOVED every single thing she has eaten!!  I'm hoping that she's going to be a very good eater, and not too picky!
Sadie also got to experience her first snow...
...and, a few weeks later got to see a really BIG snow (for Alabama anyway)!
And, our sweet girl got to celebrate her first Day of Love with Mommy and Daddy!
My, how quickly 7 months have came and went!  What a blessing this girl is to us!!

Happy 7 months, Sadie Hope!!

A Little Snow and a Whole Lot of Love

A couple of weeks ago, we had a very eventful week!  The news was about one thing only - the WEATHER!  Snow and ice were coming our way and it was looking like it could be a lot.  We got a decent couple of inches on Tuesday, but Thursday we woke up to a Winter Wonderland!
We had a little over 5 inches of snow at our house, and my parents had 8 inches...that's a LOT of snow for Alabama!!
Brad went to work because the roads were fairly clear, so Sadie and I had fun in the snow :).
Sadie with her first snow girl!
I let her taste the snow - she loved it!
The fun thing about this snow was it came, and was gone within 24 hours!  It was amazing that we had so much snow to lay in such a short time, and then disappear before the day was over!!
On Friday, it was Valentine's Day.  Sadie had her 6th month check up and shots that morning, but she's such a trooper, and did well.  We spent our first Valentine's as parents at home with our girl, fixed a fabulous meal, and enjoyed exchanging sweet gifts.

Sadie with her Valentine goodies from Mommy and Daddy - books, a Wiggimal, and Baby Mum Mums!
Sadie got her Daddy a "bag full of (Hershey's) hugs and kisses" and Almond M&Ms because she's "nuts about him"...and, no, this did not come from Pinterest - straight from yours truly! ;)
What a week full of fun in the snow and lots of lovin' with this sweet girl!

Sadie's First Snow

Sadie got to experience her first snow a few days ago!  With the weather that we've had this year, our winter has been brutal (compared to normal Alabama temps) and we were bound to get some snow sooner or later.  So many people had horrible stories of being stuck in traffic and away from their families during this storm...Brad's travel home took over an hour longer than normal, but he was able to leave work and get home before the worst hit.  Thankful Sadie and I were home when the snow started, and we didn't have to worry about travel!
Our little pink snow bunny...

Sadie only got to be outside long enough to see the snow, snap a few pics, and watch Ellie run around  ...but, her little nose turned pink almost immediately when we went out.
Ellie of course had to get in on the action.  Sadie LOVES Ellie all the time, and she loves to watch her run around...which is what Ellie did the whole time we were in the snow (I guess it was too cold to stand still!)
The rest of our snow days were spent inside...staying warm, playing, and taking lots of long naps :)  We didn't leave our house for 3 days, and I was starting to itch to get out and about!
What did you do during Snowpocalypse 2014?
